Rich Zamperini

With a marching music career spanning nearly 40 years, my professional experience includes working as a performer, instructor, arranger, composer, conductor, director, clinician, consultant, adjudicator, and administrator. My students have ranged in age from four to 92.

As a high school band director, my concert and jazz ensembles consistently performed at superior levels. My marching band's accolades include two BOA regional championships and one Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association crown.

My marching experience includes stints with the General Butler Vagabonds of Butler, PA; the Bridgemen of Bayonne, NJ; and the 27th Lancers of Revere, MA, where I was instructed by BOA Hall of Fame member Michael Kumer and Drum Corps International Hall of Fame members Bruno Zuccala, Scott Koter, Dennis DeLucia, Frank Dorrite, and Charley Poole. I have performed in concert bands directed by Frederick Fennell, William Revelli, Eugene Corporan, H. Robert Reynolds, and Jack Stamp. My jazz teachers include Dom Famularo, Jimmy Heath, Slide Hampton, David Garibaldi, and Jimmy Cobb.

I’ve been a music judge in 39 states and Canada. My adjudication responsibilities have included Drum Corps Associates championships, World Guard InternationaI, and six appearances for Drum Corps International finals week.

Past administrative positions include Director of the General Butler Vagabonds Drum and Bugle Corps, Music Caption Coordinator of the Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges, and Assistant Director of the Steel City Ambassadors Drum and Bugle Corps of Pittsburgh, PA. Currently, I serve as proprietor of the Facebook business page, "Good to Great, Great to Champion," an independent music education contracting business specializing in marching music ensembles.
