Overview
I am a freelance arranger, composer, and program consultant with 33 years of experience as a music educator and band director. My arrangements have been featured in state and regional championship programs since 1991, and I work with directors and programs across the United States as a clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor. In 2014, I was named one of Band and Orchestra Magazine's 50 Directors Who Make a Difference.
As a performer, I was a member of the DCI World Champion Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps and the DCA World Champion Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps. I served as program coordinator and brass arranger caption head for the Sunrisers from 1994 to 1999 and again in 2007, when the corps won the DCA A-Class World Championship.
I am an active marching band and drum corps adjudicator. After eight years as a DCA judge, I was appointed Brass Caption Judging Supervisor in 2009 and have held that position since. Additional adjudication credits include the Cavalcade of Bands, USBands, the Maryland Marching Band Association, ISSMA, KMEA, and the NYSFBC.
Work Experience
I currently serve as Music Department Coordinator and Director of Bands at Arlington High School in Dutchess County, NY. Previously, I served as Director of Bands at Central Regional High School in Bayville, NJ.
Ensembles under my direction have earned consistent recognition across marching, jazz, and concert settings. Marching band highlights include two Northeast Region Championships at Central Regional and multiple state and regional championships and a BOA Grand National Semifinalist placement with the Arlington Admiral Marching Band. The Arlington Jazz Machine won the Berklee Jazz Festival four times and performed at the Jazz Educators National Conference in New Orleans. The Arlington High School Wind Ensemble performed twice at Carnegie Hall, including a side-by-side performance with the West Point Band.
