David Stroud

With more than 20 years of experience as a band teacher, I am also a successful entrepreneur.

Over the years, I created many different t-shirt designs for my students’ bands. In 2012, I decided to combine my passion for creating and making music with my enthusiasm for graphic design and started my company, Sun Dogz Design, LLC. Today, Sun Dogz offers a variety of custom apparel for groups all over the country.

Since 2001, I’ve also worked as the Director of Bands at Newport Middle School and was selected as Teacher of the Year, 2003-2004. In addition, I’m a National Board Certified Teacher and a member of the prestigious American School Band Directors Association.

The concert bands under my direction have received consistent and consecutive superior ratings with separate seventh- and eighth-grade bands at the North Carolina Music Performance Adjudication. In addition, the Newport Middle School Band was one of the performing ensembles at the North Carolina Music Educators Association Convention in Winston-Salem, NC, in November 2010.

I’m an active guest clinician and adjudicator in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, and was a conductor at the East Carolina University Summer Band Camp in Greenville, NC.
