Chris Moss

I am the Director of Bands for Spartanburg County District Five Schools and James F. Byrnes High School, and the founder of Innovative Visual Concepts, through which I serve as drill designer and conceptual consultant for bands and winter ensembles across the Southeast. My design credits include Bands of America Regional Finalists, South Carolina Marching Band State Champions, Winter Guard Scholastic Circuit Champions, WGI Regional Finalists and Champions, and WGI World Championship Finalists.

Previously, I served nine years as Assistant Band Director and Color Guard Caption Supervisor at Byrnes High School and ten years as Director of Bands at Pendleton High School. I have also served on the brass staff with Capital Regiment Drum and Bugle Corps and the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps.

As a performer, I have been a member of the Florida State University Marching Chiefs, the Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, Paradigm Winter Guard, and Northeast Independent Winter Guard.

I currently serve as an adjudicator for Drum Corps International and Bands of America and have attended the WGI Judge's Academy. I am a National Board Certified Educator and have received the Citation of Excellence and the Certificate of Merit for Marching Excellence from the National Band Association. My professional memberships include the South Carolina Band Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, and Phi Beta Mu.

I live in South Carolina with my wife, Dr. Alison Starr-Moss, our three daughters, Lily, Evie, and Josie, and our dogs Hamilton and Nugget.
