Andrew Blair

Hello everyone! I am a percussionist, conductor, and composer originally from Charlotte, NC. ’I'm passionate about providing top-notch materials for programs and students, on schedule and within any budget. As a former middle and high school band director and percussion specialist, I'm keenly aware of the challenges band leaders face every day, and I look forward to assisting in any way I can.

I graduated with honors as an NC Teaching Fellow, Sudler Trophy winner, and Instrumental Performer of the Year from Western Carolina University. I taught for eight years on the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels before beginning graduate work at University of Georgia (UGA). I’m also a published composer and arranger; my pieces for winds, percussion, and electronics have been performed by outstanding programs across the country each year. Recently, I was fortunate to design and instruct for SC 2A, TX 4A, and 6A State finalists, a 2021 2x BOA Regional Finalist, and numerous NCAA FBS and FCS programs.

Since 2018, I’ve served as a graduate teaching assistant for conducting, percussion, and athletic bands at UGA. In the spring of 2021, I was awarded the first dual Master of Music degree in conducting and percussion at UGA, and am currently working toward a DMA in percussion, while serving as one of the arrangers and instructors of the UGA Redcoat Band and performing and leading various ensembles within the School of Music.

I live in Athens, GA, with my wife, Molly, who is a Ph.D. student in Music Education, our son, Ben, and our two dogs, Chaco and Fritz.
